Meet Stephen – Founder of Insight ADHD
Hi, I'm Stephen, founder of Insight ADHD.
I’m a Registered Mental Health Nurse with experience supporting children, young people and adults experiencing a wide range of mental-health and neurodevelopmental difficulties.
Over the years, I’ve worked with people experiencing anxiety, emotional difficulties, low mood, distress, difficulties with emotional regulation and challenges affecting everyday life. This experience has taught me that behind every set of symptoms is a person with their own experiences, strengths and challenges.
My interest in ADHD developed from seeing how often difficulties with attention, organisation, impulsivity and emotional regulation can affect someone’s confidence, relationships, education, work and family life — sometimes for many years before they are properly understood.
I have undertaken specialist ADHD training and have experience contributing to neurodevelopmental assessments, including developmental histories, clinical interviews, behavioural observations, standardised questionnaires and objective assessments.
Why I created Insight ADHD
I created Insight ADHD because I wanted to provide an assessment experience that feels professional, thorough and, above all, personal.
An ADHD assessment shouldn't feel like simply working through a checklist. It should be an opportunity to understand the bigger picture — your experiences, your development, your strengths, the difficulties you face and how these may fit together.
For parents, that means taking the time to understand your child's development and behaviour within the context of their family, education and everyday life.
For adults, it means recognising that ADHD can look very different from the stereotypes people often associate with the condition.
My approach is centred around listening without judgement, understanding the individual and providing clear, meaningful information that can help you understand what happens next.
Beyond diagnosis
I believe that a diagnosis should be the beginning, not the end.
Where appropriate, Insight ADHD aims to provide practical information, strategies and ongoing support to help individuals and families understand ADHD and manage some of the challenges that can come with it.
My goal is simple:
To help people feel understood, informed and supported.
